The fact is that your body is shutting down so most calories taken in after dinner and three hours before going to sleep have the great chance of turning into fat. The key is to focus your body to eat away at your fat at night and not the calories you ate before heading off to bed.

Have you ever been around or tended a camp fire before? Fueling the fire with wood is the same method of fueling our bodies with nutrients. What happens when you put a lot of wood on the fire at once; it becomes big for awhile but burns off quickly and leaves extra wood unburned. The fire is just like our body as when we eat a lot at once our body produces a large amount of insulin to digest the calories consume and most of the time a large amount is turned into fat as the body could not digest it all at once.

Knowing what time and what type of carbs is everything when deciding you want to eat healthier and even lose weight. Your goal should be to eat more carbs in the morning and less at night or close to none at all. Your body is shutting down so the amount of carbs you consume need to prepare yourself for the night of hibernation and rest.

Consume mostly fruits, vegetables and a limited amount of wheat or whole grain breads during the day. Dinner should have a very small amount of carbs with mostly protein and vegetables and if you usually eat a snack before you go to bed, make sure it is small and contains mostly protein. Protein is the absolute best nutrient to consume at night as it is very unlikely that it will be turned into fat.
