Importance of Vitamins & Supplements

It has been a proven fact that your health and physical performance can be improved by taking daily vitamins and supplements. Why is this and how important are they?

The fact is you do not get enough vitamins, minerals and nutrients through your food you consume each and everyday so taking a protein and vitamin supplement maybe your way to stay ahead of the game in nutrition. If you do not get enough protein your body will not be able to repair itself after exercising and stressing the muscle through weight training. Supplements have also been shown to reduce pain and injury from exercising and physical activity while making the recovery from injuries a lot faster.

Reasons You Need Vitamin & Mineral Supplements

  1. Poor Digestion. Even with eating a healthy diet your body may not be getting the nutrients needed from the food that is caused by eating too fast and poor chewing of the food.
  2. Hot Coffee, Tea and Spices. Drinking liquids that are too hot can cause inflammation of the digestion lining that results in bad absorption of the vitamins and minerals in the food.
  3. Alcohol. Drinking alcohol can damage your liver and pancreas that you use for digestion and metabolism. Too much alcohol will cause your body to decrease the amount of vitamins and minerals it is absorbing causing the percentage of nutrients being lowered.
  4. Smoking. Smoking will also damage the digestive tract and your in take of vitamin C will need to be increased. When a lack of vitamin C is in the body the immune system comes weak and can cause many health problems in your future.
  5. Overcooking. Lengthy cooking and reheating meats and vegetables destroys the vitamins in them and as well as many other nutrients.
  6. Fad Diets. If you are on a diet than if you are not eating a certain food group it will cause a lack of vitamin in take. Whether your on low-carb, low-protein or low-fat it all means you are missing some important vitamins and minerals in your diet.
  7. Food Processing. Storing food in freezing, warm and varying temperatures will cause a decrease in the vitamins contain in the food.
  8. Stress. Chemical, emotional and physical stress increase the requirements of vitamin B1, B5, B6 and C. With the stress in our lives today increasing these vitamins is very important.
  9. Teen Years. Rapidly growing throughout the years causes the need for more vitamins and minerals in the diet so supplements might be the best opportunity for this cause.
  10. Light Eating. If you are you a diet you might be decreasing your calories in take and this will hinder your body with the lack of nutrients being in the body.
  11. Aging. In studies it has shown that the older people get the less vitamins and minerals they consume and in this point of your life it is more important than ever to consume enough nutrients.
  12. Athletics. Being physically active and an athlete has the demand for more food and more nutrients then of sedentary people that just sit around all day at their job.

What you must understand about supplements:

  • You do not need to take them all at one time.
  • You do not have enough room in your belly for all of them.
  • You can not afford and buy every single supplement all at one time.
  • Consume a balance of nutritional supplements in your life.

In the next post I will go for several times of supplements and put my rating on the importance of as not all I believe are needed on a daily basis. Do some research and learn about the supplements so you don’t waste your time and money on them.
Have a great day and God bless!
