The growth of personal training is skyrocketing with more and more people becoming overweight in our world today. Personal training is no longer just a part-time job but has turned into a life long career in the health and fitness industry which has also influenced their need to further their knowledge.
Fitness professionals have inherent the responsibility to positively shape and influence the attitudes towards health and fitness for healthy individuals in optimal health. The need for active lifestyles, healthier eating and exercising is needed more than ever and that is why personal training has exploded into a very successful career.
Personal Trainer’s Knowledge
With the expansion of the health and fitness industry the knowledge of fitness professionals has increased more than ever. The essentials personal trainers must know is:
- Exercise Programming
- Exercise Physiology
- Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics
- Assessments and Fitness Testing
- Nutrition and Weight Management
- Basic Emergency Procedures and Safety
- Program Administration
- Human Behavior/Motivation
Fitness professionals have been educated on these areas as for furthering their clients in whatever goals and results they want to reach. Being able to influence and draw clients into healthy lifestyles and be able to train through the “training effect” which has our bodies adjusting to your training.
Adaptations is what every trainer should aim for and teaching clients how to train through and with adaptations because all it is doing is stressing the body towards a strong and healthier person. Training for adaptations includes the basic principles of overload, specificity, individual differences, reversibility, periodization, rest, over-training and stimulus variability.
Everything is needed on body conversion from food to energy, functions of the body and planning programs for progress as optimal health is encourage and should be the aim for the health and fitnessĀ professionals.
We are in the future of health and fitness but now it is not the personal trainers to change the world but it is the responsibility for personal trainers to help when asked and needed.
