1) Put you money where your mouth is
If you are struggling sticking to exercising and working out regularly than put the penalty for skipping losing money as we all love money. It is just like if you were training with a personal trainer as you would be charged for the missed session. Get a friends and if you skip a workout they get $2 or $5 but if you make it to the gym put that money into a fund in something you like to do like travel.
2) Set a 20-minute rule when tired
If after a long day you are just exhausted than put about 20 minutes into working out at a slow or light pace on your workout days. You might not feel like exercising but even a little exercise goes a long ways.
3) Monitor the benefits
As you keep track of all the benefits of exercising it will help you stay motivated to keep working out even when you don’t feel like it. If you are always looking for the benefits when doing something you will discover the importance of the things you do more in depth. Knowing why you do something is the motivator for actually do it.
4) Schedule your training
Whether your workouts are before work, during lunch or after work plan ahead of time a schedule exercising in your day. I usually like to do my weight loss cardio workout in the morning before work or I like to weight train after work. Just make sure you plan to exercise.
5) Cross of your workouts
It feel incredible getting something accomplished during the day whether exercising, working or spending time on your house it feels like a day well spent. After every workout cross off the workout which seems very simple but has been shown to be one of the best motivators for people.
6) Ask or friends and even wife to exercise with you
Accountability! This is one of the absolute best exercising tips as studies have proven that people that have workout partners are 3 times more likely to keep exercising.It doesn’t really matter if your wife or a friend works out with you as long as you are keeping each other accountable.
7) Set specific goals
One of the brightest things I have ever heard was the saying, “how do you know how to get there, when you don’t even know where there is?” If you don’t know what kind of results you want than how are you know the best exercise to get you those results. Set targeted goals for yourself and you will be more focus and determine to reach that goal.
Do the things you love
Being active is participating in the like you love that are active and will benefit your health. Playing tennis, going on hikes and even a walk with your wife are great ways do exercise with things you love doing. I play basketball three times a week with a bunch you guys from church and that is how I keep active without my individual workouts.
9) Change things up a bit
By mixing things every week or so this will keep you into your exercise program and looking forward to progression in your workout routine. An example of mixing things up is instead of doing one muscle group exercise repeativily, try doing two to three right after another and than repeat. This is called a “superset” and is a great way to mix things up for weight loss.
10) Buy fitness equipment or join a gym
This is another way of putting your money where your mouth is as the commitment takes money and that is why more people succeed. If you are paying for some equipment or a gym membership than working out is a little more important as you have already invested the money.
